Signed and numbered edition of 180 by Kate Humphreys
7 color screenprint on French 100lb cover, 24"x18", 2017
This tire shop, like many of the hispanic owned auto shops around Brooklyn, was painted with very bright colors and had hand painted lettering to announce it's presence to the neighborhood. I used to pass this one everyday on my bike ride to work. If I had had a car when I lived near here I would have patronized them even if I didn't really need new tires. To me their sign implied a high level of skill in car maintenance. If they could hold a steady hand to paint a business sign, think what they could do with your engine! It has since been painted all black and has a for lease sign in the window, so I am glad I captured it's moment in time.
